Let's Be Real People and Tell the Truth

Okay....please be forewarned...I am REALLY angry right now and need to vent. I may even come back and delete this post at some point....but for now....

I don't have a lot of time each day to spend on the computer, but when I do go on-line I like to read a couple of blogs and I'm also a part of a few on-line forums that are meant to be encouraging and uplifting to Christian homemakers.

I won't name names, and I won't be specific, but on one of those forums I have a dear sister in Christ hurting and feeling inadequate. She has heard and read about so many women on blogs/groups being able to do super-human amounts of work and feels she needs to measure up. This woman has just delivered a child by c-section and is not even allowing herself the rest and recovery time that she needs. She's feeling inept and has lost her joy!

Bottom line, none of us are perfect and trying to appear to be that way on-line just because people can't see you is lying...and by misleading others, you can really do some damage. Not all people have the gift of discernment and they take what they read on-line at face value...especially on Christian sites!

So friends...here's my promise. I promise to keep it real. I will tell it like it is...even if it's not the way it should be or I'd like it to be. My house is not perfect, my laundry is never completely done, there may be couple dirty dishes in my sink or dog hair on my couch. Not all of our foods are organic or bought at the Whole Foods store but I try to by foods that are whole...not messed around with and as close to the way God made them as possible.

I am NOT perfect...I'm a sinner, saved by the wonderful grace of Jesus Christ.

My goal with this blog is to be an encouragement and inspiration to others. To show the cool ways that the Lord is working in my families lives. To educate others as I learn more about the homesteading way of life, nutrition and whatever else strikes my fancy.

To GOD be the glory.....not me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I, too, have read many blogs of what appears to be written by superwoman. While some may actually be able to keep up as they say they do, I'd guess most are stretching the truth a bit. It took me a while to realize that. But now that I have, life is much more joyful!
Homeschooling, large families, homesteading all take up a large amount of time. I do what I can and be thankful for that. I don't have a spotless showplace of a home, genius children, gormet meals, or the perfect farm. What I do have is a roof over my head, meals on my table, and bright children who love to learn. I do hope that women will learn that we have no way of knowing who is who out there and who is truthful. All we can do is the best that each of us can do.

I've been reading of these types of blogs on some other blogs I read, but I guess I'm out of the loop, because I don't know of any superwoman blogs. I guess I just don't read any?

Well, I hope whatever has you so angry will pass. Anger is never fun. :-)

Thank you for the comments ladies!
My anger has cooled definitely cooled, but I still feel a bit sad for this woman.

The sites I'm referring to (not yours Candy ;) are the ones where the ladies try to say that they are carrying a baby on each hip, while pregnant with number 24, and are in the process of canning their 100 jar of pickles for the day...and this is after they've scrubbed the whole house, made 20 loaves of bread from scratch etc.

I'm all for having productive days...and sharing with others about those days...but when the truth is stretched and another sister is made to feel inadequate...that's just not right. We are called to be an encouragement to each other...not to brag and belittle.

Guess I'm still a little urked!

Sorry to continue to vent, I promise, I'm done now :P

I wonder if the blog(s) you're refering to is the one a few others are referring to, because I've seen a lot of posts of this nature lately.

Def. not of a blog I read, so I guess that's why I'm scratching my head. :-) I don't read many blogs. I've started reading yours, because you blog about a lot of stuff I'm interested in, and I read a few others, but that's about it. :-)
