First Illness of the Season...

What a wonderful time we had this past weekend. The centennial celebration for our church lasted 3 days and was such a blast.

Unfortunately, our first illness of the season hit shortly thereafter :( Arianna was hit with it first this time, starting it off with a high fever, sore throat & ears, stuffy head, aches and chills. I followed pretty quickly behind her though at first my body seemed to fight it off a bit better than hers had...until today. This morning I woke up with a severe headache, stuffed up head, upset tummy and sore throat. As soon as Cassidy woke up I noticed she was coming down with the virus too...and Karina and Adam both started sneezing and dripping around lunch time. My hubby (who works nights) woke about 4pm and was also congested and achy. It's so hard when we are all sick at once...

So here is my question to all of you wonderful readers...what are your cure-alls for these kinds of viruses? I'm hoping to make a big pot of chicken soup tomorrow, we are pushing the fluids and vitamins...I'd love to hear any other suggestions you-all may have :)

Garlic and honey - it really works. Just mince up a clove of garlic, and sprinkle as much of it as you can stand into a table spoon of honey, and down the hatch. The honey actually cuts down on the bite from the garlic, and it tastes pretty good. It will help your imune system, and can help shorting the duration of the virus.

Also, drink plenty of orange juice. ;-)

Have you heard of eating coconut oil when you're sick? I haven't tried it yet (I haven't been sick) but I've read about it. Also, some herbal tea with echinacea(Sp?), ginger, mint, and slippery elm (for the sore throat) might be helpful. Also, isn't Kombucha or Kefir water supposed to boost the immune system? Hope you're feeling better soon!

Oh, and fresh garlic cloves and honey are supposed to be good too. It just sounds kind of gross ;-)

Thank you ladies!!! I'll try the garlic/honey this morning.

As for the coconut oil, kombucha and kefir...we usually take those daily. We missed the kombucha a couple of times over the weekend..maybe that's where the virus slipped by? Boy is it a doozy :(

All of the children slept in our bedroom last night and we still didn't manage much sleep....

Wild oil of oregano is very good for fighting of viruses. It has to be wild though!!!!
